Haldex Concentric appoints Advanced Engineering Leader

19 August 2008

Haldex Concentric, the world’s leading manufacturer of oil, fuel and water pumps for medium to heavy diesel engines has appointed Neal Coope (26) Project Leader Advanced Engineering based in Birmingham, UK, the division’s headquarters, engineering and technology centre.

A graduate of Coventry University with a first class degree in Mechanical Technology, Neal joins Haldex Concentric from Triumph Motorcycles where he was Design Engineer. He previously worked with Dana Corporation where he was responsible for designing electro-mechanical centrifugal water pumps for current and future engine technologies.

In his new position, Neal will be leading projects that look at the application of future technologies to provide current and potential Concentric customers with the fuel savings and efficiency increases that are required in today's commercial and automotive sector. He will also take over the day to day project management of Concentric's innovative variable flow oil pump (VFP) projects. VFP is an annulus and rotor pump that operates by matching oil supply to demand, so limiting the power needed to drive the pump and hence fuel consumption.

Concentric was acquired by Haldex AB in in February 2008 and is now part of the group's Hydraulics Division. The division is a major supplier to the world’s truck, agricultural and construction equipment industries, with divisional headquarters in Birmingham, UK and manufacturing facilities in Germany, Sweden, the USA and China as well as India. In addition to both conventional and variable oil and water pumps for diesel engines, the division also manufactures the Alfdex oil mist separator, Varivent EGR technology, fuel transfer pumps and lubrication pumps for transmissions and compressors.
